And before we knew it, we were up early and headed for another train to parts unknown. Next up is a medieval city called Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury was chosen as a part of our itinerary because I wanted another interesting city in Wales that was somewhere between Cardiff and Holyhead, where we catch our ferry to Ireland.
Early morning at the train station in Cardiff makes for some great pictures. Yo, Yuri, not a good time to miss the train…
It was a beautiful ride. I loved the misty morning look of the English country side. And a tide…the tide is from the Cardiff Bay and is the first tide I have seen in 20 months. It was a fabulous site.
And after a few hours on the train we arrived into Shrewsbury.
And this is the first street we walked up in search of our hotel. And I was in love. Shrewsbury had me at ‘Hello”. Yuri, not so much, but he was very tolerate. He is much more a museum guy than I am, and I am much more an architecture girl than he is.
As we walked up the hill, Yuri made a quick stop at the shoe repair store. Turns out he broke his shoe getting off of the train…oops. The shoe guy was awesome.
The Shrewsbury Library
Awesomeness, right….
This street is called Fish Lane.
This city is incredibly beautiful. It is amazing. I am blessed to visit such a great place that is so rich in history.
The English Bridge or as it is called. I think I like to call it the Shrewsbury Bridge. It is not incredible.
Yes, this sculpture actually exists. As crazy as it seems.
I am really glad that the willow tree blocks the view of the interesting sculpture. It would really ruin the effect of the culture like view.
There was no way I was going to leave Wales without trying Fish N Chips…and then Yuri would not kiss me for a few hours. LOL!!! But the Fish N Chips were so worth it. Even had them with malt vinegar. YUMMY!!!
View from the Shrewsbury Castle wall into the square that houses the train station.
The Shrewsbury train station square that is absolutey breathtaking.

Finally we were able to check into our hotel room and found we had been upgraded to the Charlotte Suite. It was amazing. Yuri and I were stunned. It was incredible.
And the view made us wanted to stay for a week.
And then finally, it was time to catch up with the family a bit. Yuri chillin’ in McDonalds and chatting to his mom on Skype with his phone.
