A Castle, A Port & Back Again

When I was planning this trip I wondered what we would do with two days in Cardiff.  And here we are with day two.  Today is wandering the Cardiff Castle grounds and the Port of Cardiff.    It was cloudy today, but no rain.

I just loved the look of this street.  I am not even sure if it looks Welsh, but it looks so old world European.  It reminds me of the row houses in San Francisco, but English style.

The back side of Cardiff Castle acting as part of the castle wall.  This picture was taken from the street.  What a wonderful view during a morning commute.

We walked the top of the castle wall, and here is a view across the castle grounds and the Norman Keep.  I loved all the benches and the ability to just sit and enjoy the view.  It was wonderfully peaceful.

The view from the other side of the castle wall.  Loving the Burger King and Subway, which I eat neither of during this trip, but sure just enjoyed seeing such places.

I loved the moot.  It has been turned into a lovely pond like setting circling the Norman Keep.

Yuri took this great picture of me from inside the highest part of the Norman Keep.  It was very dark and steep…and made for a great picture.

Inside the castle wall.  I love the light and the colors.

Next up for the day was a water taxi to the Port of Cardiff.

The Port of Cardiff.  There have been many renovations throughout the last ten years and in the past couple of years an art center was completed.

Yuri is a huge fan of Doctor Who.  A British sci-fi television show that is based in Cardiff.  He was super excited about such things.

This was the first time I have ever vacationed with a boyfriend and it was hilarious.  We debated, argued, made up…and generally figured how to be together 24/7.  Nothing is ever perfect, but Yuri and I get a great time together.  Pictures like the one above happened often…I spent a lot of time laughing…

And then we decided to walk back to Cardiff city center.  It was cold, but a great way to spend a couple of hours to wander some more. We came across a more modern version of Cardiff and seemingly the downtown area.

Another fabulous day of vacation in Cardiff.  Tomorrow we are headed to Shrewsbury, one of the places I am most looking forward to.
