A tour of Chernihiv and a futbol game…

Today ten of us took a guided walking tour of Chernihiv.  The tour lasted about two hours, was in English, and the guide, Yuri, was amazing.  I kept thinking, my mom would love this.  Yuri was a wealth of information.  And it helped that it was a beautiful day.  The temperature was a bright, sunny and warm 60 degrees, and it felt amazing.

My first futbol game.  I have to say that it took me about 15 minutes to realize that I was cheering for the team in white.  And I really didn’t understand much, but it was a really fun.  About 12 trainees went and the tickets were 6 hrv (.80 cents USD).  Now we are talking about getting tickets to watch Kyiv Dynamo team play in Kyiv.  Many trainees registered for the EuroCup 2012 lottery of tickets before we left the USA.  Many trianees/volunteers are pretty excited about the EuroCup holding games in Ukraine while we are serving here.

I am not sure if I will ever be a huge sports fan, but there is something very cool about being surrounded by screaming fans and enjoying the spirit of unity that futbol seems to carry with it to all corners of the world.
