Today was the day that my cluster ventured into Kyiv for a day trip. And I loved it! Well perhaps not the 430A alarm clock and spending much of the day on my feet, but the city is wonderful. It is a classic old european city with incredible architecture, amazing history and some of the most amazing views. Much of the cities historical cites are perched on a bluff overlooking the Dnipro River and the many gold domes that scatter the skyline are breathtaking. This is a city I could live in and truly love every minute.
Leaving from the Chernihiv train stations at 6A. It very early, but the light is amazing. It was three hours to Kyiv on the train and totally worth it. The morning light over the country side was amazing.
Welcome to Kyiv!
These streets are located near the Peace Corps Ukraine head office.
Both of these are in front of or on top of the World War II Museum. The Museum was incredible. I look at exhibits a bit different after working for a museum and this place was the best layout I have ever seen.
The day was beautiful and made for some incredible pictures.
I loved all the domes lined up. There were about 40 in all. Just in case you have ever wondered where they came from.
Easter weekend would not be complete with some Ukrainian eggs.
A great city street in the city of Kyiv. And the Great Famine Monument. My self-directed PST project is comparative of time and history of Ukraine and America. I will talk about the Great Famine later.
The view from the train as we exited the city over the river. The statue and churches where I spent much of my day.
Good-bye for now, Kyiv. Until we meet again.
