WOW! What a great bunch of people. I cannot believe I am having such a great time. It is much like summer camp for adults, hotel-style.
Anne and I waiting in line…
Fears and Aspirations regarding our service..
Many of us arrived on Sunday evening and headed straight for dinner. After many hours of flying and lugging huge amounts of luggage into our hotel we were all tired and hungry. I met several other trainees from San Diego who arrived about 20 minutes behind my United flights. Matt, Peter, Kathryn and I piled sixteen pieces of luggage and four people into a taxi and headed for Georgetown. The adventure is always interesting and with the Peace Corps massive amounts of luggage are also involved.
The five of us agreed to meet for breakfast in the hotel lobby at 10A today and when I arrived there were 20 of us. So fun! Registration for staging started at 12N and by 2P all 106 of us were going through introductions (very time consuming with such volume), but still fun! (I really need a new word.) By 730P we were done with activities and instructions…and ready for one last American meal with a beer. So I headed out with nine others for Chipotle (not American, I know), but very good. And finally one last beer in a bar! Of course I didn’t hurt that we were on M Street in Georgetown and the conversation was so crazy!
Thanks to all my new Peace Corps peeps. It was been an awesome two days…here is to another awesome 806 days…
