The par-tah…is done! AND I am packed…

Yup, there was a party.  I am always up for a social event and it was awesome to see so many great friends.  Many I hadn’t seen in a long while and it was wonderful to catch up a bit.  The food was awesome and really, not as much leftover as I have had for other activities.  And the leftovers are enroute to the Docents at the museum via Melissa.  It was Melissa’s idea, and worked like a charm.

Not too many pics, but here is Anne and I with our moms.  Anne is the only other Oregonian that I know of in my Peace Corps group.  We even have the same assignment.  We connected via social networking and then got together for coffee.  I attended her farewell party a few weeks ago and all I have to do is see her and I relax a bit.  I am not alone at this.  There are plenty in my group of Facebook and Google Groups, which is fabulous, but it is so great to have Anne.  And she is really cool!  Wahoo!!

Yes, you heard right.  I am all packed.  Many, many thanks to my girl friend, Deborah, who came over on Friday to frost cupcakes and ended up packing me.  She and I worked for five hours, and finished in a really good place.  I would not be in my current luggage state without her.  So, how much luggage you asked?  Well probably too much, but I am ok with that.

2 large checked bags weighing in at 50.44 lbs and 51.00 lbs ( the guys at curbside were awesome about my weight and I had no issues)

1 rolling carry-on and a backpack weighing in at 28 lbs and 16 lbs respectively (yickes, but United was short of overhead space, so they checked my rolling carry-on for free…wahoo!)

2 boxes to be shipped in June after I have a permanent address….equaling 80 lbs.  It is simply amazing how things add up.

1 large checked bag, mostly pre-packed for my mom to bring to bring over in September, weighing in at 45 lbs.  This bag is mostly winter clothes and a few things I pulled out of my too heavy checked bags that I can live without for six months.
