Chernihiv and my surge protector…

Wahoo!!  I cannot even begin to express how thrilled and excited I am to meet my host family tomorrow and explore this great city.  Chernihiv has a population of approximately 300,000 residents and was the first capitol of Ukraine.  There is an amazing amount history surrounding me.  We have been in Chernihiv for the past several days during our Arrival Retreat and now I will be here for the next three months.  We also found out today that our Swearing In Ceremony in June will also hold the 50th Anniversary celebration of Peace Corps Ukraine.  This is such an amazing year to serve.

We met our language facilitator today.  Maria is great and full of energy.  The coming months will be a constant whirl of motion and learning.  There will be some long hours, but I am still very excited.

Now this may seem like and odd picture, but I just have to share my most valued piece of “maybe to bring, maybe not”.  This magical surge protector almost did not make the packing list, but it has gotten a ton of use from my roommates and I.  We couldn’t live without it and definitely worth the $25.00 I paid for it.
