FINALLY received my medical clearance…

It has been a nine days since I completed the  requested list from my Peace Corps nurse.  I have been leaving messages, both of the email and voicemail variety, for the entire nine day period.  My nurse and her assistant have been fabulous.

The past week has been so busy at work that I have been allowed to watch the days pass and not stress too much regarding my clearance.  Friday was to be the busiest of all with meetings blending into each other and meeting Ryan in Eugene for his return to Portland.

Today began as usual, my running late into the office.  However, by 845A I had just ended a call with my nurse in which she let me know I was cleared for service.  I am so excited.  I have spent hours in the gym and eight months of hard work to get to this place.  The honeymoon stage of pure excitement may end quickly when I am totally overwhelmed with preparing to leave, but right now I am thrilled.

For those who are curious….NEXT STEP:  I will be talking with my placement officer early next.  She is the one person who now decides where I will go, although she has previously told me that I will keep my original placement if possible.  My original assignment is the Caucasus Region of Eastern Europe.

I will let all of you know when I know…
