A 'Dream Come True' Day

We all have those days in life, but they are usually few and far between for all of us. For some a dream come true is getting married or having a child. For some it is watching a child graduate or get married. Everyone’s dreams are different and very personal. I, like many, have a “bucket list”, those things I want to see or do before I “kick the bucket.” My “dreams” list is much shorter.

• Getting married
• Becoming an aunt
• Completing a graduate degree
• Completing a doctorate degree
• A six-figure salary (not for the materialism, for the accomplishment)

I may add to the list as my life moves forward, but this all I can think of right now. I became an aunt four years ago when my treasure of a nephew, Ryan was born. He is an incredible kid and brings an added element to my life I never expected, pure joy.

I will be hooded later today to confer my Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree upon me. The road has been long and started with a dream and an idea almost ten years ago. I feel in a continual state of shock that I have completed such a magnificent journey. My undergraduate degree was a major stepping stone to this day of completion.

I feel truly blessed that I was one of the lucky ones. I was able to complete six years of education and two degrees. An education is a lot of work and time. So many of my friends are excited to get me “back”. I have given up so much of myself to my education, but now that it is complete, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Thanks to all of you for the years of support and always knowing that someday I would be “back”.
