As I have mentioned previously, I live in my mom's Portland house. Technically I am renting. Normally that would mean my own space. This is not the case for two reasons. One, is "what in the world would I do with all the space?", and secondly, it IS my mom's house. At this point I am lucky to have the three rooms that I do. I have the master bedroom as my own. I have taken over the once bland and empty bonus room over the garage, and turned it into my den/media room. Lastly, I have my red room.
The red room is my creativity at work and I love it. I found the bedding in a Pottery Barn catalgue and loved it. But red can be a bit difficult to work with. I took my idea to my friend and interior designer, Todd. He thought it was a great idea and suggested the addition of espresso brown furniture with black and white photos. The red walls were harder. He and I debated and discussed at least six different colors of red. The final product is a chocolate red called Earthly Pleasure. So, with the bedding and the color chosen, the painting began. First, Todd and I painted a dark gray primer, and then came the TWO layers of Earthly Pleasure. I love it! I still need to add some photos, furniture and decorative things, but its painted and my friend Sara now calls it her room.
It is now officially named The Guest Boudoir, aka The Red Room.

Correction: It is officially called THE RED ROOM aka Sara's room. :) I love this room. I love everything about it. The color, the bed, the window. It is my room!!
love ya Amy!
I love the color! It makes the room look inviting.
OHHHHH, I totally love it! It's kinda funny that I used to not really like red for decorating and now I don't really have a room in my house that it's not thrown in somehow. My painting was all little stuff that takes forever, closet door, bedroom door, bathroom door, window sills, trim, toybox, etc. About 1/2 through I was wondering if I would even really be able to tell that things were actually painted instead of primed (for the last 3 years). I'm happy to report a resounding YES, it looks much cleaner, brighter, more complete. But I wish it was as O WOW as that bedroom!
Amy...so, I can't say that I don't miss the lavender and the funky curtains in that room :-) No really, it looks amazing! Good work girl. When's the sleep over?
So the Red Room in Jane Eyre was the place she had to go to as a child for punishment...but this room looks so nice and cozy!
