Lviv, This Is So NOT My Ukraine

Today I get to spend the day in Lviv.  I arrived at 6A today from Kyiv and after dropping my bags at the hostel, I headed out for some wandering.  I only have one day here and I am 32 hours by train from Lugansk, so who knows when I will get back here again.  It was a long day, but a ton of great pictures.

The city center at 7A.  The search for coffee was on with no luck.

So many churches and such great architecture around every corner.  It was an incredible city to explore for a day.

The Lviv Opera and Ballet House. This building was built in 1897.  I did not get a chance to get inside, but that is definitely on the list for the next time.

A new cobblestone street that is under construction.  It was really fun to see in this stage.  Christina decided to do some rock climbing to give Ben, a PCV friend of ours, some competition.  LOL!

The Armenian Church.  It was undergoing a restoration project while we were there.  And I love these steps.  The indentations made me think of all the people who had walked over the stone steps and all the time that had passed by.
An old bank that is now a restaurant.

Yup, pretty much just loved the doors.

The Dominican Church and Monastery.  It is located in the cities old town and today serves as a Greek Catholic Church. The current church was blessed in 1764.

We passed multiple churches during our hike up Castle Hill.  Somewhat random, but magical nonetheless.

We got so lucky with a gorgeous day.  The views were incredible from the top of Castle Hill.

Love, Love, Love

Center of old town…
The really crazy part is that most of these are likely to work.

For a few months now all the PCV’s in Ukraine had been hearing about this new TexMex place in Lviv that recently opened.  And I finally tried it.  AWESOMENESS!!!  Here is someone who has not had nachos or anything BBQish, this place was magical.
And Christina and I ended the day with some hair coloring.  Dark brown for her and purple streaks for me…
