Discovering Budapest

We only had one full day in Budapest, so we all wanted to make the most of it.  Ben and I had never been before, but we both knew we would be back, so we all just tried to relax and wander.

First Stop: Starbucks.  OMG, first Starbucks coffee in twenty months and it was AWESOME!  Worth every penny.

St Stephen’s Basilica.  This is a fantastic church, with wonderful views from the balcony that circles the dome at the top of the building.  It was built in 1905 and is a Roman Catholic church.

The climb up the 300 plus steps to the balcony that rounded to top of the church.

And the view.  I could have stayed up there for hours.  It was incredible.

The traveling five…Eddie, Ben, Christina, myself and Chris…  Great peeps to travel with…

Ah, Subway.  How I have missed thee!  Seriously, this was a fabulous sandwich and tasted just like home.  And a Cherry Coke…  Perfection!

We had such a great time just discovering new things.

I had never heard of Hungarian Paprika before going to Hungary.  And then I walked into the market and was surrounded in all things paprika.  And garlic.  And hot peppers.  It was incredible.

We walked thru this fabulous market and I just stood in awe of all things westernized.  Yeh!!!

Ahhh, the Danube always makes me happy.  There is a river boat you can take from Budapest to Vienna that I would love to do someday.  It was a super windy day on the river today, but that didn’t stop me from doing some bridge walking.

Let the wandering and discovery continue.  I love to find new places and discover new cities.  After twenty months in much the same, it was a breath of fresh air to explore a new city.

And then it was time for a train to the wedding village.

Our hostel was amazing in Svartas.  And Christina and I were roommates…just the two of us for two nights.

A packed day, but so fun!  Cards, beer and Cheetos was a perfect way to end the day.  CHEETOS!!!  Yep, they don’t have those in Ukraine, so I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.
