Fourth of July Picnic in Ukraine…

Happy Birthday America…one day early!!  I will miss all the awesome fireworks tomorrow, but I will celebrate Ukrainian style, with a walk in the park.

Twister and American Football kept everyone busy for much of the day.

Yuri was in charge of cooking.

So many kids and everyone seem to have such a great time.  This was a great idea and so many thanks to Neva for the organization.  All I had to do was show up and play.

Caroline and I had a wonderful time playing with frisbees and a football.  The boys, all under about 10 years old, had an awesome time.  I think my shoulders are going to be sore for a few days.

These boys look so content to just sit in the shade and people watch.

We had about 70 kids who came to play and eat.  Are they not adorable?  Everything loved the American style hot dogs with chips and soda.  There were 80 hot dogs ordered and 4 left at the end of the picnic.  It was awesome!!!

Yup, I had a great time.  Everyone pitched in for the quick assembly of many hot dogs and we passed them out on trays to all the kids.  It was really fantastic!

Today ended with a fabulous dinner with Anna and her friends and family.  It was delicious, if only I had been a bit more hungry at the time.  And Sasha (the guy across from me) had a great discussion in Russian.  Maybe it would not have been so funny if we could speak each other’s languages, but we had a great time.
