The Swearing In Retreat in Kyiv is incredible. Again, it is much like our time together in DC, except this time around we get to pick our own roommates. It is like camp for adults. And Anne and I are roommates, DUH!! Anne is awesome and we have a great time together, we also love our quiet time and I am better at answering her phone than she is, so it is a win-win.
This was when our room was still clean. We just spent three months keeping our rooms spotless clean with host families and seemed to just let all that go within hours of arriving in Kyiv. :)
The excitement level during our site placement notification conference was a bit crazy, but thrilling nonetheless.
These two crazy girls, Anne and Andrea, ended up in Crimea. Crimea is a part of Ukraine and for most, the heavenly land. For most they are surrounded by the Black Sea, or close to it and they will be much warmer in the winter. The negative for those in Crimea is differing living amenities, such as: internet, central heat, running water, hot water, a fridge, a stove, etc. Really any volunteers in Ukraine live without such amenities everywhere. It is the Peace Corps, but in Crimea they get beach and warm weather. AHHH!! And it is on my list to visit OFTEN.
Now, where, oh where am I headed. I am headed to Lugansk in eastern Ukraine, population 500,000. Wahoo!! Big City!! I am so excited, I can hardly stand it. And thrilled to have a big city with a few other volunteers around and an English Club that is already established. Wahoo!!!
So go look it up on wikipedia kids. I have a new home and it is in eastern Ukraine.
