So, I took the afternoon and spent some time with two awesome friends, Anne and Ben. Anne and I started the afternoon at about 230P by wandering through the bazaar and trying to find a way to repair her sunglasses. No luck! Then we headed toward St. Catherine’s Church and the World War II Memorial. And Ben called. We walked back to St. Catherine’s Church and met up with him. The three of us took to walking across the Desna River on a foot bridge and happily chatted the entire afternoon.
It was wonderful to catch up with both of them. In three short weeks we could be placed anywhere and I will miss them both terribly. Too bad I can’t go into my site placement interview and just say I want to be near Anne and Ben. :) Anne is from Oregon and we became friends before leaving Oregon. Ben and I became fast and close friends during staging in Washington D.C. Thanks you two for such a great afternoon!!
The bazaar was full of people and the general busyness of a beautiful day.
These made me think of my sister, Laura, who loves tulips. The city has come alive with flowers in the past two weeks and it is amazing.
This is St. Catherine’s Church and Chernihiv spelled in Ukrainian. The hilltop church greets all visitors as they arrive into Chernihiv from Kiev.
It am not really sure why the locks, but I understand that if a couple puts a lock on the heart while kissing their hearts will be locked together forever. Ahhh!! The bottom photo says Ura and Natasha (spelled in Russian), May 14, 2011.
