So, Sunday was my second trip to Kyiv and again it was awesome. Kyiv is a fabulous city. It was extremely hot, but that did not seem to bother must of us until the train trip home.
We began the day at 6A with a three hour train trip headed south. It is a bit difficult to sleep, but all eleven of us seemed to disappear into our iPod and just relax for the trip. I really enjoy train travel here and three hours seems to go by in a flash.
Ah, the Kyiv metro map. I was a bit concerned about negotiating the Metro when I am in Kyiv by myself, so I paid more attention during this visit. I have traveled to many cities throughout Europe with metro systems, but each one has its own life and way of doing things. And now I am perfectly comfortable with the Kyiv Metro. Wahoo!!
This is what we look like as we wander around the city and through parks
Sara and I in front of this very cool fountain. Sara is one of my closest friends here and I will really miss our everyday banter when we separate in two weeks.
Just cool…
An amphitheater and more park.
So, the futbol fans were really excited about this. Some statue and Dynamo Stadium. Not really my thing, but the games are still fun to watch live.
Another park and fountain. It is hard to pass up the endless beauty in Ukraine.
We spent the afternoon at the Hydropark in Kyiv. It was awesome. A beach, river, some shade and endless card games with a bunch of Peace Corps trainees. Good Times!!
And a ton of people. This was the beach across and down the way from us.
