Sundays are for visiting friends and bazaars

Today was another day of new finds and fun.  My cluster and I met up near Sim’s house for a visit to his house and an introduction to his host family.  It is always fun to visit others in the cluster and see their environments.

This reservoir is near Sims.  The dock picture is for Dad, Brent and Jack.  I am not sure what size of boat fits there, but it looks pretty fun!  You can see the ice that still cover the surface and until a few days ago their was still ice fishing going on.  We were 56 degrees yesterday and about the same today, but it is still cold at night.

This forest lies between Sim’s house, and where Sara, Patrick and I live.  Any idea what kind of trees they are?  I have none, but they are certainly a sight to see.  The cluster of goats in the middle was a fun find today!

There is large (Wal Mart size) blue and white store that I have passed on many bus rides, and I have always wondered what is inside.  So today we were walking by and stopped to take a look.  Turns out it is one of my favorite places, a massive housewares store.  Everything I have heard you can not find in Ukraine has been found.  It was amazing!  The mini french press was a favorite.  The USD cost is about $3.90.

And here is the bazaar.  Our language instructor, Maria, had told us about this place during our first few days in Chernihiv, so we talked a few others into joining us and delved into the abyss.  It was amazing.  I still did not understand much of the language, but I got the numbers, now for the sizes.  Ben and I were sharing that this will be a great place to come back to in six weeks and again before we leave for our sites, just to test our language skills.

Often we see the grandfathers walking babies in these stollers during the day in our training neighborhood.  They are so interesting and look very warm and cozy.  They remind of my sister-in-law, who loves her babies snuggly warm.  All the mamas and grandmamas around here love their babies, of all ages, snuggly warm.

Ahh, the flowers.  They are all plastic and fabric, and make for a beautiful sight.  They are found everywhere and decorate many places in a home.
