I remember when I got finally got a call from my doctor that my triglyceride count was 134. I had my own little dance party in the IKEA parking lot. I probably looked like a freak, but I was so EXCITED. I worked so hard to get my count down and had accomplished my goal without additives.
Next was when I received my medical clearance. I was so relieved that I am amazed I didn’t cry. I knew I still had a ways to go, but by the time I got my clearance I had been in the Peace Corps process for 17 months and I will thrilled to be moving forward. Again so EXCITED.
Next was when my invitation came in the mail. My mom called and opened it while I was on the phone, again so EXCITED. It took my 24 hours to come down from my high of EXCITEMENT. Ukraine was my first pick, if I had been allowed to chose, so I was thrilled to be invited to serve in my first choice.
As the days have passed I have moved all I do toward March 21. I have packed my life into my mom’s garage. I have shopped and re-shopped for what seems like a thousand items. I have said hundreds of goodbye’s and given many more hugs.
And I have lost many hours of sleep.
I keep getting the “Are you excited?” question. Oddly I have not felt a pure excitement in several months, my life is more about the goal (packed and on a plane on 21 March) than the excitement of it all. Today I am just plain exhausted and still have so many things to get through. Tomorrow is my last day of work and I need a major attitude adjustment. On Friday I need to deliver my car to its new owner. And on Saturday I am headed to Colorado for two days with the “Denver Crew”. Perhaps I will relax a bit over the weekend and begin to enjoy the happenings around me more.
