And suddenly the information just comes pouring in…

At times a person can feel forgotten by the Peace Corps. During the Application Process, mine was two years; I went through huge lulls of quietness. The time between Medical Clearance and Invitation is an excruciatingly hard period in which you wonder if you are ever going to become a Peace Corps Volunteer. And for me the time between my Invitation and Departure was six months, lots of time to think and wonder.

The past six months have been very quiet. And this can be difficult. I am thrilled to have had family, friends, and my job to keep me more than busy, but the quiet can still get to be a bit weird.

And then today arrived!!

I got my final dental clearance today. Yeh! And today was also the day that the first of many attachment filled emails began arriving. WOW…there is no way one should feel ignored now. We (PC Ukraine Group 41) are 31 days from staging, 32 days from leaving for Ukraine and for many of us on the west side of the Mississippi River, we have 30 days until we leave for staging.

Today my flights are booked and this is all suddenly feeling very real. Thirty days seems like a long time as does three weeks of work still to go, but the days are passing in the blink of an eye.
