Oh crap. I am so glad I just booked those tickets to Colorado in March. They say that ‘patience’ must be your middle name while you are serving in the Peace Corps, but this is pretty funny. My entire life was scheduled around a March 28 departure, but what is life without some need for flexibility. I guess I am leaving a week earlier than expected.
Dear Peace Corps Ukraine Invitee,
I hope you are doing well and that your preparations for departing to Ukraine are going smoothly. As I write this email, the Peace Corps staff in Ukraine is already hard at work preparing your Pre-Service Training sessions and identifying potential work sites.
I’m sending you this email to notify you of a change in your pre-departure orientation (AKA Staging) and departure date. To better accommodate this large input of trainees, we are moving your departure date up by exactly one week. Your Staging date will now be March 21st. Your training class will depart from Washington, DC on March 22nd and arrive in Ukraine on March 23rd.
Previously, this training class had been split into two departures, one week apart. Now, your group of Community Development and Youth Development trainees will be joining the group of TEFL trainees that are also going to Ukraine. Certainly, this combination will make for a large class and we anticipate that 110 trainees will be arriving in Ukraine at the same time. Congratulations on being one of the largest training classes Peace Corps Ukraine has ever had!
As indicated in the “Your Assignment” booklet that you received with your invitation kit, the training dates are subject to minor changes. This is not often the case, but, in this instance, the adjustment of the dates and combination of the classes makes for a smoother training period with better logistical support. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at xxx-xxx-xxxx.
You will hear more from me in the weeks to come as I gather welcome materials from Peace Corps to Ukraine. These welcome materials will help you to prepare for your departure, aid the Ukraine staff in designing your training, and give you a head start on learning some of the local language. Happy New Year!
Regards,
