Invitation…Things To Do…

After receiving my invitation for Ukraine I had several things to do, all with a due date.

The  first was to formally accepted my invitation.  This was pretty easy as it is done via email and the Peace Corps gives you the exact verbiage to use.  A bit old school, but it was nice to have someone just write it for me and all I had to do was fill in the blanks.  This was completed on October 13th.

The second was to send my current passport, three passport photos, Peace Corps passport application, and Ukraine visa application to the Travel Office in DC.  Thankfully I knew where all the need material was located and this process was completed fairly quickly. This was completed that same day I accepted my invitation.

The third task was two-fold, write an aspiration statement and update my resume.  Both need to be written with the idea that what information I share helps the Ukraine office  get an idea of who I am, professionally.  They will not have a copy of my personnel file, so what I write in these two documents could mold my next two years. This was due ten days from invitation acceptance, and both have been completed and submitted.

The fourth task is also somewhat two-fold, collect information for student loan deferment and get update immunization records from my doctor.  This is due at staging in DC on March 28th. In the coming months I will also need to reapply for dental clearance, it expires in March, and update my pap smear, it also expires in March.

And then there are all the language courses the Peace Corps has now sent me.  And off I go…time to bury into Russian and Ukrainian as much as possible.
