A First….

I had a random day off today.  Seriously random. DSCN3927

My boss stopped me in the parking lot at the museum at 5P and asked if I wanted to spend the day in Long Beach, CA today.  My answer: Sure, why not!  My traveling companion was the Staff Accountant from the museum and several executives to the for-profit.  Turns out the Lear was headed south for the day and had two extra seats.  (About twice a month museum staff are offered random Lear/G4 trips when there are extra seats.)  The executives we traveled with had a purpose, Cory and I did not.

So, Long Beach with eight hours to kill on a Tuesday.  What to do?  First we rented a car.  Fairly normal for me when traveling, but the Nissan Ultima Hybrid we had was fun!  And Cory didn’t want to drive in a new city and I love it!  So I drove.  I am still pretty strict with the food intact, so Cory was thrilled with the opportunity for In and Out Burger, for lunch AND dinner.  We spent

our time wandering the pier, touring the Queen Mary, visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific and just sit on a park bench at the beach.

It turned into a very relaxing day away from the office.  And it taught me that traveling with your own plane is my preferred way to go anywhere.
