Today was the day I actually made a duplicate copy of my medical evaluation paperwork. I can not even tell you how excited I was to get out my red COPY stamp and hit the top of each page with a little red ink. The copy is for my file and the original is finally ready to be mailed to Washington DC.
For the vision section, I had my appointment last week, but as I was reviewing last night I realized that the frame size section for my glasses was not filled out. Tonight I stopped by the optical department at Costco where I had ordered my last pair of glasses and they happily filled in the empty spaces. Which means another section is ready for copying. WooHoo!!
Now onto the dental section, and my most difficult and expensive. I went to a dentist recommended by the Peace Corps for a free initial evaluation and x-rays. After three years of no insurance and I was grateful for only three cavities and some intense cleaning needs. Yesterday was my second of four appointments and tomorrow is my third. I have been achy and sore for 24 hours. This dental stuff is no fun, but in six days it will all be over and my dental paperwork will be ready for copying.
I have had my medical paperwork for almost five months. My finances have held me up with no health insurance and finally I just decided to roll with it and slowly pay off whatever bills I have. So far, my vision appointment was $85.00. The dental estimate is $1498.00. And I have nothing from the medical section, but the lab work is not going to be cheap. Yickes!!!
Only eight months until departure…
