Happy Thanksgiving From Ukraine

My third and last Thanksgiving in Ukraine. And it was one for the record books.  Perfectly small with a portion of so many great and traditional Thanksgiving foods. I was lucky enough to have Jon, a PCV who lives a few hours north of me come down and help me cook.

We had a blast. I was so on top of the cooking that while the turkey cooked we watched a movie. It was a lovely day.

I didn't get too many pictures during the process, but I have more than a few from after everything was prepped and ready to serve.  The only thing missing that I really love is green bean casserole, but fried onions are hard to find and I wasnt really interested in making them from scratch.

Besides the hockey pucks for rolls, everything turned out really well. So good!

Turkey is expensive here. A 18lbs turkey ran about 60USD, crazy high, especially after living with no income for a couple of years. But once a year, a turkey is worth every penny.

Such a great table with all the trimmings.

I did a family recipe from the Joy of Cooking for the stuffing. It is the same recipe my mom has always used and it was fantastic as always. A small taste of home.

It was a great day of friends and food.
