Hunting Season, The Mushroom Kind

Yuri and his mom dragged me out of my apartment this afternoon. I had been feeling a bit off all weekend and was worried I was getting a cold, but the fresh air felt good, even if it was cold out.  We wandered out to some planted forests about 30 minutes outside of Lugansk, parked on the side of the road leading to Russia and walked around.

Fifteen more miles or so and you will arrive at the Russian border...

The forests around these parts are often planted...in very straight rows.  The little mounds of dirt is where others have dug up mushrooms.

SAND...just like home on the Oregon Coast...if it wasnt 32 degrees out I may have actually taken my shoes off just to feel the squishy...

 The mushrooms love to hide....

Yuri and his mom thinks these trees may have been affected by Chernobyl. HUH!

This is the bad kind...

Often we could find mushrooms hiding at the bottom of trees...
