Another day on Kyiv…another day spent wandering…and more churches…
The Kyevo-Pecherska Lavra is the holiest of places to visit in Ukraine and is the place that draws a steady stream of both tourists and pilgrims. The complex is divided into the Upper Lavra, controlled by the government and Kyiv Patriarchy, and the Lower Lavra, controlled by the Moscow Patriarchy.
The entrance to the Upper Lavra is the Trinity Gate Church (left photo) and opposite the church is the Dormition Cathedral (right photo) with it seven gold domes. The cathedral was rebuilt in 2000 after being destroyed in World War II.
