Saturday and time for another excursion…Novhorod-Siversky

Yup, today was a free day, which meant it was time for something new.  Wahoo!!  I am always up for a bit of exploring and adventure.  So, Sara, Masha, Mike, Blakely and I headed northeast to Novhorod-Siversky.  It was incredible.

The bus ride was about three and a half hours each direction.  And a bit tight in the seats, but so relaxing.  On goes the iPod and I am ready for a three hour drive in the countryside of Ukraine.  So wonderful.  We were also blessed to hook-up with a current Peace Corps volunteer, Patrick, who lives there and get a tour of the city.  Thanks Patrick, it was a great day!

Novhorod-Siversky is a historic city in the Chernihiv Oblast (province) of Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Novhorod-Siversky Raion, and is situated on the bank of the Desna River, 330 km from the capital, Kiev, and 45 km south of the Russian border. Current estimated population: 15,000.
