A few people asked questions via the comments section of my previous postings and I just felt it was more helpful to others to post them here. I will answer them as best I can.
Do you know what happens to those who are nominated but not invited? Have they basically gone through the entire process to be left emptyhanded?
From what I understand the most common reason for not receiving an invitation after your nomination would be not passing your medical, dental or legal evaluation. You will find that there are many other reasons for not receiving an invitation, but those are individually based. And I would have to say that I have learned so much already, so even if the process stopped for me right now, I have learned a lot and am not being left empty-handed. You will never know where you can go in this world and what you can do with your talents until you try.
Would you mind if I ask where you are in the process? Are you past the medical stage?
I am holding in the third stage of approximately six. I will not receive my medical and dental evaluation paperwork until after I am nominated.
To all who read this please be aware that I am a little different and my process will take longer because I do not graduate with my Master's until December 2009. I am not available for Peace Corps service until January 2010, so there may be positions available for Fall 2009 staging, but I am not. And with the help of my recruiter, she and I decided to keep my focus on a business assignment due to my education and experience. This will prolong my staging date as well.
In the end I believe that dream jobs come and go, but the opportunity to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer is a life time experience. I am willing to do whatever I need to so that I can serve in the best capacity possible utilizing my experience and education. And so I wait.

Thanks for your response. Your post really shows a wonderful outlook on life and I wish you the best. It would seem a master's degree and potential PC service are great things to look forward to!
Best of luck,
