So my mom has been looking for a house in Portland for the last couple of years and is now ready to buy. After a thorough search over the last week and finalizing on a house (Gibraltar Court) Friday, she woke up this morning with a bit of buyer's remorse. So while she got ready to meet her real estate agent and the home inspector, I got online and begun searching again. I found six possibilities in the Tigard/Tualatin area. The Gibraltar Court house is on Sexton Mountain in Beaverton. It was a great house, but pretty far from the I5 corridor. The Tigard/Tualatin is on the I5 corridor. So, while the home inspection was occuring (Gibraltar Court), the agent, Mom and I headed to see three new home choices. The first one (Stuart Court) was IT. It is fantastic. Wonderful backyard..great space..fabulous light..high ceilings..high quality build.. So, we headed to the home inspector, who was now done with the Gibraltar Court house.
Then terminated the current contract, and my mom signed new contracts and an offer on the Stuart Court house. Two hours later the owners accepted the offer and Mom closes on the house in 30 days. Yippee. Normally I am not so involved in my mom buying a house, but this will be my house for the next two or three years. I am going to rent it from mom for tax purposes. It cannot be her permanent address for two or three years. I have 18 months left in grad school, so I know I am in Portland for the two years or so. I hope all of you enjoy the pictures and I will pass my new address to you when the time comes.
