Stop the train, I want off…at least for a few days…

My life seems to be running full steam ahead and I am wearing thin. I have yet to blog this month and if I wait much longer, the month will be over. How do I do this to myself, make my life so incredibly busy that a week on an island in the Caribbean or at the Ritz in Paris seems like not enough to revive my tired mind and body. More importantly, why do I do this to myself and when will it end? My answer, in the basic form, is my own drive and ambition. I love my life, as crazy as it is. Just this week I booked two airline tickets for myself to play with the “Denver Crew” in the next few months. And I have flown three times in the last six weeks. Two personal and one work.

On the 26th of April I headed back to the Bay Area, Oakland this time, for a cousin's wedding. Congrats Will and Nora!

The weather was beautiful, so much so that my sister, Laura, and I ran to Old Navy to pick tops, skirts, and flip-flops. The jeans and long sleeves were not going to work, and why stay buddled with such great weather. California just smelled good. The citrus trees were full of fruit, trees were in bloom, and it was sunny. What a perfect day for a beautiful wedding. Out of the nine cousins I have on that side of the family, there were six of us together, and we had a great time. We are now looking forward to planning a small gathering for the nine of us, with spouses and families, somewhere between California and Colorado in the next couple of years. In addition to the wedding, I had a great time with Laura, Sadie, Ryan, and Mom. I decided at the last minute to attend, so I crashed in their hotel room; with four adults and a toddler, we were swished, but loved it.

We had lunch before the wedding at Trader Vic’s. Papa and Grandma loved this place and it was on Mom’s list of things she wanted to do. So, after a quick trip to Costco for Morinari Dry Italian Salami (a family favorite), we headed to Trader Vic’s. No luck with the salami, but my cousin Will promised to ship some after he gets home from his honeymoon in Spain. We then headed back to the hotel for naps (Ryan and Laura) and showers (Mom, Sadie, and I). And we were off to the wedding.

The last couple of weeks have included a weekend on the South Coast with Dad and Beth, and friends. And plenty of school work. Weekends on the road means I pay a hefty price with school when I get home.

The current class is Global Environment and I love it. How many people really understand the purpose of the IMF, WTO, and WB? Are they a benefit to the global economy? If so, by what degree and why? I love that I have answers to these questions for myself and a better grasp on the global economy and its development, now if I could just get a better grasp on the platforms of McCain, Obama, and Clinton. LOL.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mom’s out there.
